M3 values were all over the place, but 30% of you vote the E92 as the best M3 value for the money, and I agree. This week: the Nissan Z NISMO. You don’t want one? What if I found one for $10k off?
What if I found all of them for $10k off?
The 2024 Nissan Z NISMO vs the GR Supra MkV Final Edition
The world I live in is full of Porsches. Like Patrick Stewart says, there really is no substitute. Porsche knows this, and so they charge you money. Lots and lots of money. And then they charge you some more. How about raising the base price of a 911 GT3 by $50,000 for 2025? You could easily spend half a million dollars on a fancy Beetle, for a car you’re not likely to drive every day.
But if there’s no substitute, at least there are options. If you want a fun weekend toy that’s going to be stiff, impractical, and primarily meant for back roads, Toyota and Nissan make the only reasonably priced sports car. Not for long though – this is the Supra’s last year. Between the regular Z and the Z4 in disguise, it’s an easy choice.
But there is another, and Nissan is giving the Z NISMO a huge discount right now – up to $10,000 off. Why? It seems they aren’t selling. Yes, there’s no manual option like in the Supra, but if you’re looking for more than Tinder-level love with your sports car, the NISMO can’t be beat by cars that cost even twice as much.
Let’s see what we can find.
The 2024 Nissan Z NISMO discount
There are about ten NISMOs for sale in my area, and nearly all of them are discounted by the same $10k amount. The one we’ll look at comes in the best color.
- MSRP: $69, 395, with $9,400 off, for a final price of $59,995
- Stealth Grey is a $1,295 option, but it’s the best color of the four available
- The interior is the same on all NISMOs – a mix of leather, Alcantara and fabric
- You can add little tchotchke options, but nothing of significance. That means all examples are pretty much the same aside from exterior color – a great price equalizer.
Should you lease this, it’s about $840 per month for 36 months with 5,000 miles. Want to lease a bare bones BMW M2? $1,136 per month. The M2 might make the better daily, but we don’t need the back seat or the comfort. Just the fun.
The 2026 GR Supra MkV Final Edition
The Supra is a better car. It’s more comfortable, nicer inside and more well-rounded. But Toyota ain’t giving you a discount…
- We’ll do the Final Edition because it’s the Supra’s last year (and the NISMO is a special version too)
- Available in three no-cost colors
- The Final Edition includes GR embroidered headrests and red seatbelts, upgraded performance dampers, larger front brake calipers and rotors, 19-in. matte-black forged-aluminum wheels, and carbon-fiber ducktail spoiler and front spats
- Black leather is your only option inside
- MSRP: $69,085
It might seem odd that the Supra is a ’26, the Z a ’24, and we’re living in the year 2025. But model years don’t mean much nowadays. Toyota is offering no discounts on the car regardless. Monthly payment: $1,172 per month. Might as well go for the Beamer at that point. And no, even if you wrap this car in a giant condom and store it for a decade, it’ll never be worth more than the day you buy it.
The Z NISMO discount is a good one, considering sports cars never really get it, let alone special editions. But forget all that – this car offers Porsche levels of feedback for a lot less. And now it’s a lot lesser less. Whatever.
Still, if you’ve wanted a Supra, now’s the time before it goes back to the grave. Which would you have?
