BMW is getting savvy – they’ve alerted me that I should spec a new BMW G90 M5 because the configurator is now live. Since absolutely no one has asked, here’s how I’d have mine if I were to order one.
G90 M5 exterior paint colors
I hate to break it to you, but I’m a creature of habit and there won’t be any surprises here. Though the color palette is somewhat limited for a $120,000 car, it’s easy for me to pick one.
- Alpine White – ($0)
- Carbon Black Metallic – ($650 for all Metallic colors)
- Black Sapphire Metallic
- Dark Graphite Metallic
- Marina Bay Blue Metallic
- Storm Bay Metallic
- Isle of Man Green Metallic
- Brooklyn Grey Metallic
- Vegas Red Metallic
- Frozen Deep Grey – ($1,950)
I sure do wish they’d come up with some new colors. Brooklyn Grey is still a thing?
G90 M5 wheels
Just three choices here, similar to the M3’s style. All are 20 inches in front, and 21 inches in back.
- 951M Dual-Spoke Dark Grey
- 951M Dual-Spoke Jet Black
- 952M Dual-Spoke Bicolor Black
I like a thinner spoke, and the 952s look like sewer covers.
G90 M5 Interior
I’m sure more will become available at some point, but for now, it’s just four options of Extended Merino Leather.
- Silverstone/Black
- Red/Black
- Kyalami Orange/Black
- Just uh..Black
I’m not a huge fan of the way they’ve broken up the color on the seats, but these are pretty good options. Red almost gets my vote. Where’s Cohiba, Tartufo, and all the nice browns?
For trim, you get Aluminum Rhombicile, Fine Wood Dark Oak (why?), or Carbon Fiber. Carbon and wood are $200 options, so it’s a pretty easy choice.
G90 M5 Options
I’m not doing anything driver-assisted. We’re here to drive folks. The T-1000s can take over later. Instead, let’s do the Carbon Fiber package for $3,100, which includes mirror caps, roof (how is the roof not standard?), and rear spoiler in carbon.
Next, the Executive Package for $1,850 is a must, with side and rear window shades, front and rear heated seats, that silly glowing grille, an interior camera, front ventilated seats, and parking assistant plus.
Since we’re never going to track this M5, I don’t think we need Carbon Ceramic brakes for $8,500. Red-painted brake calipers are a free option. Also skipping the 10-stage traction control, so M Drive Pro stays off, and so does ACC stop and go assist. We can leave that for a 7 Series.
All in, the MSRP is $126,475. Which isn’t too bad considering the old M5 Competition came in around that price. What’s missing is actually that Comp badge – no doubt BMW will release a package with more power down the road.
