Did you forget about the BMW M6?

The BMW M6 has all the goodies of the F10 M5, but with a sleek body style. Now, you can grab one for less than $30,000.

The GT4 wins the day, the 911T is sold, and all is well in the land. Now: the BMW M6. Specifically, the Gran Coupe. I think we all just sort of forget about these. Let me help jog your memory, because wow, they are cheap!

No versus today, because I doubt you’d pick an Audi or Merc over this BMW M6.

It’s a funny car, especially in four-door Gran Coupe form. While you could justify the sacrifice of space in the coupe or convertible, the Gran Coupe is really just an M5 minus one seat and less head room.

I never see them at car shows, and I see every BMW.

BMW M6 prices: shockingly low. You can get the topless version for $25,000! And that was the most expensive variant for sale. Always included were the S63 V-8 (though this is the original troublesome design), with 575 horsepower and 500 lb-ft or torque, a seven-speed DCT and M adjustable suspension.

BMW 8 Series
The 8 Series has carried on the DNA of the 6.

The problem I’ve always had with this car? It’s not an M5. I think BMW had the same issue, because they never knew what to do with it. Its successor, the M8, has also really failed to catch on. Priced like a 7 Series, but with the bits from a 5 Series.

Can we score a good deal on a nice M6 example?

The 2014 BMW M6 Gran Coupe

What a cherry Cars & Bids has for us:

  • 6,700 miles
  • Bid to $35,000 so far
  • DCT
  • Alpine white over black, so that’s pretty boring
  • Carbon roof and Competition pack is here, as is the Executive Package
  • No mods
  • Minimal wear – a scratch on the rear bumper
  • Tires have 2013 date codes, so those should be replaced soon
  • Oil change and inspection in August 2024

The only one I could find that’s close is this example, and I think $50k is too much for a car with 2014 technology. If this one goes beyond that, despite the Comp Pack, I’d be shocked.

But wait…

The 2013 BMW F10 M5

The F10 M5 is on clearance right now.

I’ve covered this car extensively, but it seems that they’ve come down in price even more. Here’s one that sold for $21,000.

Tons of other examples like that too. This is the bottom of the curve for the F10, so if you’ve always wanted one, now is the time before people start to realize “Hey, that’s a bunch of BMW for nothing.”

As for the M6, would you…?
